Deepwoken, A Final Review | Fandom (2024)

My introduction

I got into Deepwoken when my friend told me about this interesting new game, me and him played Arcane Odyssey at the time (he had the highest bounty in the entire game) and we shared a lot of common interests. Curious about this game I looked it up on youtube and found Eclipses review video. After watching it thoroughly I decided eh 5 dollars isn't that much. and bought the game that would change the next few years of my life. Deepwoken.

After loading up the game I was shocked to see I was a cat person... wtf Deepwoken... Anyway, I chose the battle axe, thundercall, and put most of my points into Agility.

After walking out of the starting house in Erisia I saw a peculiar man in armor walking around, I tried talking to him, no response. Confused, I struck the man with my mighty axe! Only to be jumped by many other men in the same armor... Looking for revenge I attacked the man again! yea im a frickin idiot. I was later told by my friend that those men were guards. Anyway I woke up in a strange place, gravity felt a little off and the world was a tad bit, uhhh... blue. After exploring around I was soon jumped by some jellyfish. I totally won (Trust)

The next few days were harsh and confusing, my friend from earlier taught me about Erisia and how to fight bandits, I really only died when I was on my own, sometimes to bandits, sometimes to sharkos, sometimes to mudski- WHAT!? NO I DIDN'T DIE TO MUDSKIPPERS YOU'RE INSANE!

It was around this time when I discovered the wiki, this made learning the game much easier.

The Community: 7/10

The community of Deepwoken is quite infamous for being toxic. However during my journey I have discovered that most people, are actually quite nice. Sure there have been toxic people, one voidwalker told me to quit when I started playing. One time I was carrying my friend out of the diluvian mechanism and some freshie hit me, grabbed my friend, and dived into the void. Yea... Still, most people I meet just want to enjoy the game or help out other people, whether its saving a freshie from the depths or feeding a starving felinor, most people will help each other.

Voidwalkers. A very controversial topic within the community, some hate them, some love them. I used to hate voidwalkers, so much so that I played mostly on UK servers. Because of the horrible ping my reaction time adapted to the lag so I had to relearn parry times when I played on low ping servers.

Bosses: 9/10

Aight, Ima be real. Deepwoken has pretty good bosses. For a roblox game Deepwoken has insanely good AI, Duke, Chaser, Ethieron, and Maestro are all good bosses with interesting fights that make learning them fun and beating a boss for the first time is an amazing feeling. The only real problem is goofy ahh roblox putting me in a Hesse server when i join a dungeon

Enemies: 7/10

Sharkos, Threshers, Enforcers, and Mudskippers are all enemies you have to face at least once in every progression, and I love fighting all of them. Deepwoken has a very satisfying combat system that encourages strategy and aggressive tactics. All the monster designs look and feel unique and fit into the style of the game. HOWEVER, Deepwoken has BUGS and bugs are VERY annoying, A lot of monsters like the deep owl and broodlords are glitchy and oftentimes unfair to fight.

Gameplay / Game Mechanics: 8.7/10

I feel like Deepwoken is over-hated because of its difficulty and lack of a good tutorial. Deepwoken has the most character customization I've ever seen in a game. The amount of combinations of weapons, oaths, bells, attunements, and armor is insane. I personally like the parry system and find fighting other people fun. I've never had a progression even remotely similar to a previous one, oftentimes whether you want to or not you'll come across someone and interactions actually feel interesting. Talents are an interesting concept, i'm not sure exactly how I feel about them.

So yea

Deepwoken is a great game with original features and so much content and most importantly... ITS FIVE FUCKING DOLLARS HOLY SHIT PEOPLE ARE TRASHING A GAME THAT HAS OVER 100 HOURS OF CONTENT THAT ONLY COSTS A FRACTION OF MOST PROFESSIONAL GAMES!!!!!!
